Research – Fashion Film – Bart Hess & Ruth Hogben

For this module, i really want to familiarise myself with film. Above is a film I’d love to recreate. I love the black and white element, in which i want to work a lot in, and also the movement within the video. The film is inspired by punk’s association with metal adornments. Hess built a garment entirely made from studs, pins & chains & developed a method of intuitively manipulating shape and movement of his studs with magnets to create a wearable object. The film features a ballet dancer, covered in tiny magnets before showering him in thousands of micro metal pieces, including chains, pins and studs. I would love to work with a dancer or performance artist to create a short film with the body as the dominant factor.

From watching the process film, I know that if I am to create a fashion film, I will need to learn about: studio lighting, casting a model (dancer or performance artist) and female models comfortable semi nude

Recreating this film – make a a structured wire basque (chicken wire) for a woman with a veil

NOTES : FILM IDEAS – BODY PAINT / GRAFFITI ON A BODY / BODY IN FEATHERS / TATTOO BODY / INK & BLOOD / INK IS WORTH MORE THAN BLOOD / SEVEN DEADLY SINS
